These vacations bring people together in good spirits with good meals and traditions to offer thanks and to recognize our numerous gifts. These in recovery need to work really hard to get at a spot where they may also be subjected to alcohol without the publicity pulling relapse triggers. When recovering alcoholics are exposed to individuals who are consuming alcohol old cravings usually come up. Although some recovering alcoholics achieve a stage where they can attend a holiday party without much pressure because of the existence of alcohol, many don’t. And for these recovering alcoholics, family and many buddies are not willing to exclude alcohol from the celebration out of consideration for the person in recovery.
Holidays then accept more of the negative power in these situations as someone is bound to get hurt. Holidays present an additional obstacle in recuperation, that is something which all those in restoration have to realize and have to work on every year.
